1.
Open iTunes without iPod connected

Hold down Shift and Ctrl and connect your iPod to your system.
Do not release Shift + Ctrl.
Once your iPod is displayed in thedevice column, release Shift + Ctrl and wait 10 seconds, then close iTunes.

Allow the computer to access your iPod files:

From your Desktop, go to Start > My Computer.

Double-click on your iPod. This should be in the Devices with Removable Storage row if you are running Windows XP
At the top of the window, click the Tools tab, and click Folder options. Inside of the Folder Options window, open the View tab. Scroll down to Hidden files and folders and select Show hidden files and folders. Click OK.
Do not close the iPod files window, we will return to it later.


3. Copy your music files to your system:
Right-click on your Desktop, and select New > Folder. Name the new folder Songs.
Return back to the iPod files window, Right-click on the folder iPod_Control and choose Copy.
Return to the desktop, right-click on the Songs folder and select Paste. (This may take a long period of time, depending on the amount of files on your iPod.)
Once the copy is Complete, open iTunes and resize the iTunes window so you can see the portion of your Desktop where the Songs folder is located. Drag the Songs folder to iTunes. (This may also take awhile.)

Copy the music into your iTunes
library folder:
In iTunes, click the Advanced tab at the top, and click Consolidate Library... Click Consolidate when a conformation alert appears.
